Why I would like to Join Alpha Phi Alpha
My interest to join Alpha Phi Alpha grew from the moment I first heard and read about the fraternity. While most fraternities form communities of people with similar interests, Alpha Phi Alpha is not just about interests and friendships. It’s about the struggle the young founders went through in life, at a time when they hardly had any rights or freedoms. It’s a support system that speaks to me as a person and arouses the need to join and help change the world and make it a better place for talented black individuals. I would like to be part of the social change that can be attributed to the fraternities’ efforts and work.
In addition, as a person who has firsthand experience about the issues African Americans face, I identify with the fraternity’s objects of stimulating ambition among its members, who are respected and educated African Americans. Alpha Phi Alpha takes time to prepare its members to become useful in propagating critical human agenda including dignity, and most of all freedom. The fraternity’s objective of helping unfortunate individuals to achieve high economic, social and intellectual status is something else I can identify with. Since Alpha Phi Alpha was formed, they have been a step ahead in promoting education, voter engagement and in providing elder care for members of the community. These objectives have aroused interest in me as they align with my ambitions.
Being a postgraduate, I would like to join the alumni chapter of the fraternity.

I received my undergraduate degree from Coker College, with a GPA of 2.5, and proceeded to complete a Masters at Webster University with a GPA of 3.78. My university performance is certainly not all I have to offer. I am currently a member of the Virginia College Advisory Board since the year 2017. Also, I am also an NMLS Certified Debt Counselor Certified through Green Path Since 2016, and a March of Dimes and Heart Association Volunteer since 2012 and 2016 respectively. Further, I was the Francis Marion University Gospel Choir Event Coordinator from the year 2011 to the year 2016.
All these experiences have taught me to be an agent of change and a better person whose responsibility is to offer what anyone else can not in my community. I have become a better person, and a leader while working with people who need change and balance. I believe that joining the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity will help me become a better man and a superior version of myself.
