Most people tend to have the mentality that whatever information is found online can be used freely. In contrast, online content is usually copy-right lest specified otherwise. Considering the numerous different licensing options available presently hen one has not only has to be very sensitive but also skillful in the searching for content that is available under the appropriate license. It is important to note that one should not copy graphics or photos or any other information for that matter. As obvious as it sounds obvious, reusing online images found thru a simple Google search is a widely carried out practice. Few people are aware of the fact that only those images and graphics that are under a given creative creations license can be reused, and on the condition that one gives credit to the person who established them (Lessig, 2003). Therefore, depending on how one wants to reuse the image, graphics or any other material for that matter, one may require different forms of licenses. For instance, if one wants to crop or resize an image, then they will require a license that permits them to modify, adapt or build upon the image.
Google Images CC license
Google, which is the most commonly used search engine, has the capability of filtering search results using CC licenses located under the image search tool. One can easily restrict their image search results to locate images that have been appended with CC licenses, and as such one can get content that they can reuse, share and/or even alter.

To filter by creative commons search, one should go to the advanced image search option in Google, and choose the options they would prefer in the sections headed usage rights (Lessig, 2003). The search results will be confined to images tagged with creative commons licenses or other coherent licensed images. However, it is important to consider that Google only provides search results that its algorithms find labeled with the specified license and thus it is the obligation of the user to verify the license of the image they are using and ensure that they are in compliance with its guidelines.
