A happy world, looking for our humanity

Incivilized or civilized?

The novel "A Happy World" written by Aldous Huxley forces you to stop and reflect. Could a fictitious story become a reality?, Surely people would answer a resounding and forceful not. However, sometimes, it is possible that it resembles reality, although luckily for us it does not become an exact representation. There is no doubt that technology advances by leaps and bounds, making the human being question too many things.

"A happy world" is a book with a very complete story that has a background message that goes beyond science fiction. History lacks a linear plot. In my view, I think it is something done on purpose since the author’s goal is to send us his message. Therefore, throughout the argument various thoughts are perceived about what would happen in a seemingly perfect society. Aldous anticipates with his work any thought of modern literature. It can even be understood that at first, serial production is the starting point in your novel and plays the reader in an "incubation center" where individuals are made in the image and similarity of each other. Describe the world in which the inhabitants live in an apparent constant happiness. What if this happened? If we were treated as objects like car manufactures or clothes … nothing is further from reality. There are numerous premonitions that Aldous advanced that they have come to fulfill.

In the book, women were obsessed with the care of their physique, as Lenina showed by meeting Linda with phrases of the type "that old and wrinkled" and that, in the 21st century, continues to occur today where women althoughMen also resort to drugs that sell a delay of aging in their skin.

Wait! A Happy World, Looking For Our Humanity paper is just an example!

Many people take advantage of this phenomenon. The pharmaceutical world works as the famous "soma" of Aldous’s novel, provide medications that apparently modify your mood, such as depressions.

Once again we see that the author’s premonition has been fulfilled by being part of the drug -dependent society in order to manipulate their emotions. In addition, we are a society enslaved by television, bureaucracy and, of course, technology. This makes new organizations with greater complexity and mandatory. The media are a clear example of this. Advertising is another important factor, which plays an essential role in public opinion that without realizing it affects our freedom. It can be checked at times where there are electoral campaigns in which advertising and even social networks are platforms used for manipulation of society that unconsciously and involuntaryly receive constant information.

Some think that history, literature and art have ceased to exist to give way to garbage television. So we are slaves of technology?, The answer is yes, also since we are born. We are accustomed to television consumption that from childhood start throwing messages. In addition, political candidates as we have seen in the case of Donald Trump, benefit from platforms and technology to change society’s thinking. As in the novel the characters got happiness rejecting many other things such as the role of family, religion, society … The same thing happens to us, we unconsciously reject certain things for possessing others. However, Internet or television has also been shown to defend freedoms.

So the utopia that Aldous poses little by little is becoming dystopia. And "a happy world" is exposing the vision that the author had about a pessimistic and futuristic world, where individuals with dreams of the perfect world, end up becoming the reality of a world without freedom.

It is necessary to understand the novel, reach the true message that Aldous H wanted to convey us. Intentively through irony you can see the criticism that the writer makes to the uncontrolled advance of technology. What really makes us human?
