Cognitive anthropology is a field that deals with patterns of shared knowledge and how the culture is transmitted from generation to generation over time. It also looks at or investigates cultural knowledge that is usually ingrained in stories, words, and artifacts. It focuses more on methodology rather than cognitive phenomena. Once integrated with psychology, which is a study of the brain, it will be possible to learn how people of different cultures think. Introducing Cognitive anthropology and psychology as a major will help individuals with a background in the two component fields, that is, anthropology and psychology.
Problem Statement
. An independent interdisciplinary major also known as an IIM is a course of study that is not in the institution’s normal curriculum, which is designed around an issue, a theme or other courses to help the student attain extra credit points. The IIM gives learners the opportunities to create a particular course of study that is not in the school’s regular curriculum. In light of this fact, my proposed IIM would give me a chance to add at least a .5 credit that would help me when graduating. The IIM would also present the opportunity to study to study how different societies think.
Why Major in Cognitive Anthropology and Psychology
As a senior planning to graduate at the end of the semester, an independent interdisciplinary major would present me with the opportunity to earn half a grade, which would go a long way in helping me graduate. I am well suited to take on the IIM because of my previous interest in anthropology and psychology.

Wait! A Proposal on Why to Study Cognitive Anthropology and Psychology paper is just an example!

In the anthropology sector, I am keenly interested in the emic, and etic perspectives that I believe offer a better understanding of anthropology as a whole. I have already taken three other anthropology classes, and an additional IIM would grant me the chance to graduate sooner than I anticipated. Taking an extra class would also help me meet the minimum criteria of four anthropology courses that would make graduation easier. This is why I have a profound desire to have an extra independent interdisciplinary major created. I will write a paper for my IIM that will focus on various anthropological trends of different cultures such as paranormal activities and undead monsters. I have also taken on a second language which seeks to help me better understand the course.
How will it fit into the overall plan of the study?
I have done a myriad of courses that will help me integrate the proposed independent interdisciplinary major into the overall plan of the study. The courses include social psychology, evolutionary psychology, and cognitive psychology and cross culture psychology. The cognitive psychology course will contribute to the major because it enables me to comprehend how different societies think and why they adhere to their various cultures. Evolution, on the other hand, helps to understand the origin of different people and their communities and is equally necessary for the major. A proper background in both evolution and psychology will contribute to making the major easier for me. I believe that an experience in the component courses, which are psychology and anthropology, will greatly benefit me in understanding the new IIM. Without an established history, grasping various fundamental concepts would prove to be highly challenging for me, and it would be a deterrent to my professor. A reasonable ask is that I have some prerequisite knowledge anthropology and psychology.
It is a challenge creating an independent interdisciplinary major for anyone. However, I am well prepared for the challenge, as I understand that it will help speed up my graduation process. It will help me earn half a credit that will help me finish my course. My background in both anthropology and psychology will go a long way in helping me transition into the new course, as I will also have assistance from the professor. I am ready for the undertaking.
