Activism
The mention of activism in America is not complete without citing the contributions of one of the main politicians and social activists of all time, LaDonna Harris. Indeed, LaDonna’s role in activism has trickled down the generations for many years. In terms of her legacy, LaDonna’s involvement in social and political activism is a cornerstone to the younger activists today who can learn about the virtue of being persistent and resilient. Admittedly, her accomplishments are numerous but the one that stands out for me is her activism towards the indigenous people’s rights, which she achieved through her Comanche values (Brannum 1). Consequently, her activism has been a work of peace by propagating the Indian issues to the national stage coupled with her role in women’s rights and environmental conservation, all of which are peace driven (Tramel 1). To this extent, it is certain that an honor for the Woodie Guthrie is well deserved for the born humble lady whose work is arguably unmatched.
It is often said that everything an individual accomplish is dictated by his self-esteem. Imminently, LaDona knew this too well. In my opinion, her self-determination is what drove her to achieve the numerous accomplishments that she managed in her lifetime. As espoused by Tramel, LaDonna achieved much even managing to rise to the position of United States representative to UNESCO, a body that is held in high regard when it comes to global science, education, and culture (1).

Therefore, I am convinced that LaDonna is a determined person who never gives up on what she wants to achieve. Coupled with her personal attributes, she is still revered as one of the most important women in the world. From the film, my overall take is that apart from documenting the life of LaDonna, it is a balanced film that also elaborates on the challenges she had to maneuver through before reaching success.
