The application of the Canadian government’s Gender-Based Analysis plus in Emergency Preparedness at UTRGV would lead to the effectiveness of the response in the emergencies. Whenever the emergencies occur including the health pandemics or natural disasters, people are affected in different ways. Some cases may involve, for example, a rural elderly woman, a low-income person on the wheelchair, a teen girl of the First Nation on the reserve and a family that has just migrated into the community. All these groups may require rescue responses such as emergency health services, information on their safety or next destination of evacuation, food, and access to communication lines. The provision of these services may need the action of different people with different roles in society including the role of women, children, and men. It is therefore essential that the community has all the role players at all levels to help in the case of the emergency.
The Gender-based Analysis Plus, in this case, is the excellent place to start when there is a need to provide then needed roles at all levels in the emergency. The course helps in understanding how what and which roles and experiences that the people within the society and communities have. The course gives focus on the diverse strengths and the needs that planning and response in the emergencies (Introduction to GBA+-, 2018).

It then means that men can be allowed to respond to high-end emergencies that have higher risks. On the other hand, children and women can take part rescuing people that may require based needs such as food and health services. Thus, GBA+ provides a platform to plan and respond to the diverse needs of the people in an emergent situation to ease the pressure on the emergency management system.
