Introduction
Affirmative action is one of the longest legacies to have been established by two American President’s namely Nixon and Johnson. It has managed to dominate local, state and even national levels. The primary objective of the policy was to address issues of discrimination in organizations.
Question One
Impacts of affirmative action policy in promoting diversity within organizations
Since its inception by Franklin Roosevelt who was the president during the hard economic times in America, the affirmative action policy contributed greatly to a diversification of different organizations. Through the policy, all taxpayers were allowed to benefit from all work and social programs thus addressing the issue of unemployment and poverty. The outcome of this was equal job opportunities to all those who qualified for the job. Another regulation of the policy was to bar discrimination on the basis of creed, race or color. A minimum wage was established through this policy where by all employees were entitled to a certain average salary and thus bringing about equality within different organizations. As a result of the policy, Africans Americans were able to request for loans and farm inputs that were subsidized. In the long run, American citizens got an opportunity to diversify and venture into different activities within various organizations.
Question Two
Anderson’s thought About Affirmative Action
From the excerpt of the case proceeding, Anderson seems to disapprove of the affirmative action.

Wait! Affirmative Action paper is just an example!

He states that it is 25 years now since the policy of affirmative action was put in place and therefore, it should no longer be upheld. The main reason why he is opposed to the policy is that preferences are still considered based on people’s race. According to Anderson, it is not acceptable when universities consider students during admission based on their race. He argues that if indeed the policy was good then by this time no preferences should be accorded to anyone on the basis of race but instead be done based on qualifications and sheer hard work. Although the affirmative action was supposed to help the less disadvantaged in different government organizations, it seems it has not achieved its objectives 25 years later. It is from this perspective that Anderson is convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the policy failed in achieving the goals set out at the beginning.
Question Three
Support for Affirmative Action
Based on the article written by Yee et al. (1998) am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that affirmative action should be supported by all organizations and governments to come. The reasons for supporting the policy are; provide an equal opportunity for different people to work anywhere provided they have the qualifications and competence, the less disadvantaged groups in the society like the disabled, women and youths should also be considered when it comes to getting opportunities in government departments, provision of minimum wage to workers by law also makes employees equal irrespective of their race, color or religion. Therefore affirmative action should be supported fully by all citizens and those in leadership to avoid going back to the past where the society was characterized with discrimination, racism and sexual assaults without minding the affected people. Those advocating for the abolition of affirmative have ill motives and should be condemned in the strongest terms possible. Although some issues of sexism and racism have been addressed by civil society groups, the policy should be supported to ensure all ills to discrimination are completely eliminated.
Conclusion
Indeed affirmative action has played a huge role in reshaping organizations in America. Previously most institutions were dominated by male whites but an introduction of the policy things have changed and now organizations have new faces comprising of women, youths and the disabled. As a result, discrimination based on gender, race or religion has reduced greatly.
