Americans: marijuana consumption is more moral than pornography and homosexuality

Americans consider that marijuana consumption is more morally acceptable than homosexual relationships, animal medical tests, death penalty and abortion, according to a new Gallup survey.

The survey published on Tuesday shows a continuation of the growing acceptance of cannabis consumption among Americans as more states choose to legalize marijuana for medical or recreational purposes. Seven out of ten respondents said that using cannabis is morally acceptable. Only 28 percent said the activity is morally unacceptable.

It is a remarkable blow compared to 2018, when 65 percent of Gallup responded said that cannabis consumption is fine.

Other activities that Americans consider less morally acceptable than smoking marijuana include wearing clothes made of animal skins (54 percent), sex among teenagers (38 percent), pornography (36 percent) and human cloning (12 percent).

As in previous surveys, there is a division among those with different political ideologies. People who identify as liberals were much more likely to see marijuana consumption as morally acceptable (83 percent) compared to those who identify as conservatives (51 percent). Even so, some political observers could be surprised that most conservative Americans think there is nothing morally bad in consuming cannabis.

This trend is consistent with surveys on the issue of cannabis legalization. Sixty -six percent of respondents included in a Gallup survey published last year said they support the prohibition of marijuana.

Wait! Americans: Marijuana Consumption Is More Moral Than Pornography And Homosexuality paper is just an example!

That includes 51 percent of self-informed Republicans and 76 percent of Democrats.

The fact that such a strong majority of the liberalMost of the members of his party and adopt the legalization of cannabis.

At the same time, the favorable responses of conservative respondents could be emboldened the re -election campaign of President Trump, since he presses to present the holder as the candidate for the reform of criminal justice in the race.
