Accountability and Ethical Behaviors
Workplace Ethical Behavior
Ethics are values, integrity, character, and morals of an individual. Morals refer to the aspect of either being right or wrong while values are integral beliefs that guide the behaviors of an individual. People have unique qualities called character while integrity, on the other hand, refers to the situation when a person behaves in an ethical manner (Anderson & Bolt, 2016). People use the three levels of decisions when faced with an ethical dilemma. The action level is the initial step followed by action fair to every involved party, and the last level is determining whether the behavior makes you feel good. People should ask themselves the three questions to determine whether they are making a positive ethical choice. However, if the answer is no, one should not proceed with the intended action since it could be unethical.
Ethical behaviors form the foundation of establishing trust among individuals, and therefore, it is essential to demonstrate it. On the other hand, employees want to work and relate with personnel who portray a strong work ethic (Anderson & Bolt, 2016). A workforce that demonstrates strong work ethics tends to uphold high discipline which leads to high productivity. Cooperation and teamwork arise when people have the determination to succeed. Work ethics play an important role in providing internal motivation. A determined team will happily work towards rewards and incentives, and a manager will note the determination portrayed by the employees while undertaking their tasks.

Portraying strong work ethic entails understanding that you belong to a larger group where everyone plays a significant role. Therefore, teamwork leads to a determined team which works with the determination to undertake their duties properly. Also, people with strong work ethics are more productive, and cooperation helps them get the work done efficiently.
Accountability
Accountability entails maintaining positive relationships in an organization which helps the workforce communicate positively while achieving their goals. Similarly, accountability entails taking personal responsibility and ensuring a positive reflection of your undertakings on the company and personal level. It also ensures individual reports to the authority. However, according to Anderson & Bolt, (2016), not every person shows accountability. Taking more responsibilities and asking for tasks are two techniques that I would use to hold myself accountable. Learning new things and taking on more responsibilities helps in developing professionalism and therefore leads to accountability. My current position has helped me learn more than expected within a short time frame. I have also realized that educating myself towards the set objectives helps in nourishing the mind in pursuing personal and organizational goals. Doing so leads to individual success as well as meeting the goals of the firm.
Maintaining positive relationships is a significant aspect to enhance the development of effective business amongst managers and employees. Setting clear expectations and offering timely responses are techniques that would help solve workplaces concerns and instill positive workplace behaviors. Setting clear and measurable objectives helps in maintaining the positive relationship among staffs since everyone understands how, and what to do. Also, it highlights job description in a clear manner through training and giving feedback. Getting feedback helps an employee understand what constitutes quality work which helps in establishing measures for performance. On the other hand, communicating ensures the provision of a timely response to the group’s expectations. Setting high-performance expectations and communicating the significance of every individual’s role helps in the accomplishment of the set objectives and success of the organization.
