Overcoming Obesity
The article in this paper is retrieved from the TIME magazine. I decided to select it because it covers what most of the people around the world are struggling with. It is evident that obesity is not only a problem facing the less developed countries but also, the First World States. According to recent world statistics, over one billion people are already in this condition. A third of them are in a critical condition which has the potential of causing death (Time, 2010). The topic is aligned with my long-term goal of finding a permanent solution to this problem. Furthermore, I have some of my friends who are obese, and I would like to help them overcome it.
An obese person has a BMI of over thirty kilograms per square meter (30kg/m2). The body of an obese person has an accumulated level of fats that are detrimental to his health. It is important for an individual to control his body mass. When a person’s body fats are more than the normal, he is likely to develop diseases like DMT2 and hypertension or suffer from conditions like anxiety, stroke, and depression (Time, 2010). Obesity is associated with adverse metabolic consequences on different components in the body. For example, the cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and insulin resistance.
Scientists indicate that this condition is caused by the amount of food that an individual consumes, his physical activities, and sometimes, his genetics (Korthals, 2011).
Wait! Biology paper is just an example!
Although it is hard to stop a genetic condition, health practitioners advise that obese individuals should take exercises regularly, control the number of calories taken each day, and avoid stressful conditions (Drewnowski & Rolls, 2012). Additionally, to prevent this condition from affecting the healthy individuals, it is important for them to adhere to the experts’ directions as well.
Protecting and controlling obesity helps individuals to live comfortable lives. This is because it elevates their self-esteem and enables them to live a disease-free life.
