Cardiovascular Systems.
Myocardial Infarction and Angina Pectoris are among the leading health issues affecting the heart that most people are not aware of. For those who are aware of them, it is common practice to see them confusing among the two. However, both conditions are characterized by the experience of chest pains. The two cardiovascular condition is almost the same and so are their symptoms. However, there is need to differentiate them by medical practitioners to administer the right kind of treatment.
Angina Pectoris
Angina just like its name which is a literal interpretation of chocking is characterized by an uncomfortable sensation affecting the chest of the victim. This condition occurs due to insufficient oxygen supply to the heart. The insufficiency in oxygen supply may be due to diseases affecting the coronary arteries or blockage of the arteries due to clotting (Comila1). Therefore the heart is deprived of oxygenated blood and other vital nutrients.
This condition makes the heart to work at a faster and harder rate with the minimal supply of oxygen. Reasons for the existence of Angina pectoris may include but not limited to physical exertion, emotional stress, smoking or just a hereditary a factor (Comila, 1). Patients who experience this health condition try as much as possible to avoid its re-emergence due to the painful and terrible feeling accompanied with it. Angina pectoris is a condition that lasts for at least for two minutes after which one is back to normal.

Angina exists in two main categories. Unstable and stable angina.
Intervention measures. Nitroglycerine should be administered to the patient immediately after their arrival to the healthcare institution. Nitroglycerine is applied at the bottom of the patient’s tongue. A burning feeling is felt by the patient but immediately subsides.
The patient can also be given PTCA (Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty). Balloon-tipped catheter is inserted to into a coronary vessel using a wire. This is a method of unblocking the clogged oxygenated blood supply route.
Myocardial Infarction (MI)
Unstable angina gives rise to Myocardial Infarction. This case is a result of complete stoppage of blood flow to the heart. The heart muscles are entirely deprived of blood and oxygen supply. The latter results to infarction. A condition where the tissues of the heart are permanently damaged or dead. Unlike angina which is a temporary condition after which the patient is back to normal, MI results to permanent damage that requires immediate medical attention.
The coronary artery has a plaque made of various fatty acids. This plate is embedded on the walls of the artery. The blockage of the coronary artery may result to build up pressure causing the rapture of the plaque, thus, heart attack (Comila 2). Myocardial Infarction is characterized by severe chest pain, palpitations, sweating, and anxiety.
Intervention measures. There is a need for immediate attention to person’s suffering from MI. An Echocardiography and Electro Cardiogram can be used to determine the extent the heart tissues have been damaged (Comila 2). A temporal oxygen supply is always recommended in before administering any medical procedure. Demerol can also be applied to relieve the patient from pain. The patient should be positioned in a semi-fowlers position with the head raised through a thirty degrees angle. A low fat, cholesterol and sodium diet is emphasized for Myocardial Infarction patient.
Conclusion
Both angina pectoris and myocardial infarction are conditions arising from insufficient blood supply to the heart. The two conditions can cause severe chest pains to the patients. Angina is temporary while MI is a more permanent condition. Myocardial infarction is the most dangerous among the two to the extent that it can result to the death of the victim of the necessary prevention and treatment procedures are not sought.
