Causes of Civil War in America
It is indeed true that the civil war started in 1861 to 1865 within the United States. This was a war that took place among two groups from one state or country. The battle was between the Confederate states from the southern part of the US as well as the northern union. It has been ranked as one of the greatest war ever witnessed in American history. There exist various reasons as relating to the immediate cause of civil war. Such causes have been categorized into political, social, and economic domains. This fact depends on the nature of the causes as will be discussed in this essay. The essay tends to elaborate on some of the economic, social and political factors that gave rise to civil war in America. This will be validated by critically analyzing the political, economic, and social aspects or factors that contributed to the deadliest war in America.
Notably, the economic condition of the North and the South states prior to civil war give us a clear detail on how this war erupted. It should be noted that the north dominated the south economically. Regarding the number of states, the north had 23 while south had only 11 states hence bringing economic imbalance (Mountjoy and Tim 14). Conversely, most manufacturing industries were in the northern part while the southern part did well in agricultural farming geared towards providing industries with raw materials. Therefore the trade balance in the country was in favor of the northern citizens.

The division between the northern population and the southern people brought about the rivalry, and the cause of this deadly war can be traced from this point. The economic imbalance between the south and north with the north enjoying enormous advantage did result in civil war in America.
The political reformation of the 1850s in America can also help in tracing the possible causes of civil war. For instance, the move by the Confederate States (the South) to spearhead sovereignty of each state rather than the federation or the federacy acted as one of the political causes. This change did bring a lot of tension among the military organs of the north and southern states. Conversely, the period of the 1850s was characterized by the political will of the south to have the full protection of freedom to own slaves (Mountjoy and Tim 97-109). As a result, the uncompromising differences started among the free as well as the slave states. This was about the powers bestowed in national government to hinder slavery in the perceived places that had no state. In conjunction, the election of 1860 was also significant when the first Republican president Abraham Lincoln won the election. He pledged to stop slavery out of the American territories a fact that made the slave states located in the south to secede and hence form another nation. The northern people did not recognize the legitimacy of the secession. As a result, there was a rift between the people of south and north hence rivalry emanated that spearheaded the war.
According to the constitution of the United States, slavery is deemed to be a vice contrary to human rights and privileges. However, the rise of slavery was unstoppable before the emergence of civil war a fact that results into serious division of the southern and northern part of America. Another view towards the union gets attributed to the economic dominance by the people of the north at the expense of the south who only produced agrarian products. This is also seen to have contributed to the war.
It should be noted that abolitionism was a social push and a strategic part of the advent of civil war. There existed radical abolitionists who were geared towards certain social changes. The notion of abolitionism argued that indeed America could not deal fairly with issues related to slave power (Mountjoy and Tim 28). Slave power had dominated the politics of America in the prior days before the 1850s, and hence there was a need for an abolitionist to call for ways of curbing the American culture. They did induce militant attacks on slavery and were seen to have vilified slave owners as being evil and unaccepted. On the other hand, the blacks did also contribute to the war against slavery. They wanted equality for all, and hence they chanted antislavery slogans the fact that attracted rejection from the slave owners hence resulted in civil war. Slave owners responded fearlessly, and this marked the beginning of civil war.
In a nutshell, I agree that indeed the economic, social and political factors are the primary cause of the Civil War. For instance, some of the social factors that contributed to the rising of civil war include antislavery movement and abolitionism. Economic factors can be attributed to economic dominance by the northern state regarding the manufacturing industries and the number of states. Conversely, the essay has depicted the significant of the 1860 election and the move by the Confederate states to have sovereignty of each state rather than the federation as some of the political factors that contributed this most significant war in America.
