Change in the Constitution Document
The constitution of the United States (US) is in an atrocious situation and needs to be updated. However, any talk of revising the American constitution seems to be awkward and is considered dissension. The current constitution was drafted in 1787 in a Philadelphia room and signed by 39 people ADDIN CSL_CITATION { “citationItems” : [ { “id” : “ITEM-1”, “itemData” : { “author” : [ { “dropping-particle” : “”, “family” : “Madison”, “given” : “James”, “non-dropping-particle” : “”, “parse-names” : false, “suffix” : “” } ], “container-title” : “The American System”, “id” : “ITEM-1”, “issued” : { “date-parts” : [ [ “1787” ] ] }, “page” : “30-58”, “title” : “The Constitution”, “type” : “article-journal” }, “uris” : [ “http://www.mendeley.com/documents/?uuid=c803ba16-1795-448a-b9e1-65305d626ca1” ] } ], “mendeley” : { “formattedCitation” : “(Madison)”, “manualFormatting” : “(Madison, p. 30)”, “plainTextFormattedCitation” : “(Madison)”, “previouslyFormattedCitation” : “(Madison)” }, “properties” : { }, “schema” : “https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json” }(Madison 30). The major component of the constitution was the establishment of a government that could guide the country and deal with the national problems that faced the nation. The development of the government implied that every citizen had to be presented in the election of the President. In contrast, the constitution does not provide for total involvement of citizens in the presidential election and even representation in the government.

It is for this reason that the constitution needs to be updated.
For instance, the Electoral College has been considered to be undemocratic. The President can be elected even with a small portion of the total national vote as compared to the opponent ADDIN CSL_CITATION { “citationItems” : [ { “id” : “ITEM-1”, “itemData” : { “author” : [ { “dropping-particle” : “”, “family” : “Madison”, “given” : “James”, “non-dropping-particle” : “”, “parse-names” : false, “suffix” : “” } ], “container-title” : “The American System”, “id” : “ITEM-1”, “issued” : { “date-parts” : [ [ “1787” ] ] }, “page” : “30-58”, “title” : “The Constitution”, “type” : “article-journal” }, “uris” : [ “http://www.mendeley.com/documents/?uuid=c803ba16-1795-448a-b9e1-65305d626ca1” ] } ], “mendeley” : { “formattedCitation” : “(Madison)”, “manualFormatting” : “(Madison, p. 31)”, “plainTextFormattedCitation” : “(Madison)”, “previouslyFormattedCitation” : “(Madison)” }, “properties” : { }, “schema” : “https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json” }(Madison 31). Presence of the Electoral College in the constitution implies that the president does not have to get the approval of the majority to acquire the seat and it is from this point of view that the constitution becomes undemocratic.
In addition, the Senate structure is also undemocratic. For example, Wisconsin state has only six million residents while California has 36 million and, yet the constitution requires that there be equal senate representation despite the population of a state. A general conclusion can, therefore, be made that the current constitution does not advocate for equality in citizen representation in the government. It is based on these inequalities that there is a need to update the constitution.
