Response: Scholarship for Social Change
Low-income students find it challenging to acquire the best education which can assist them to bring changes in their families and the community at large (Callahan et al., 2012). Scholarships encourage students to work hard and even make them do more research which can have a great impact on the society. For instance, students who come from low-income families might not have the opportunity to join expensive colleges or even further their studies. But the availability of scholarship will help them to become professionals in fields such as nursing and engineering. Community nurses play a significant role in the society. Such nurses are the one who helps families during emergency cases and provides preventive medicines to help the community to keep away from diseases which can be transmitted through water or air. Hence, the impact of scholarship can be seen as one way to bring a change to the community since people will no longer die from water-borne diseases.
Scholarships which are provided by higher learning institutions help to broaden research. More research supports countries to improve on healthcare or agriculture sectors which at long run enhance the economy of a nation. Apart from expanding research, it brings collaborations among some universities when students participate in exchange programs (Callahan et al., 2012). Universities from different countries meet in one institution where the students can be able to share and exchange their research experience and knowledge in certain fields.
