A Researchable Clinical Practice Problem
Name
Institution
Practice Issue
Workplace hazards is a major challenge faced by nurses in our practice setting. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) (n.d.) defines a hazard as the potential for harm that could be physical or mental. Nurses are frequently exposed to several types of hazards such as needle-stick injuries, blood-borne pathogens, and cytotoxic medications in the course of their duties that pose significant threats to their health and safety. These hazards can be categorized into four main types including physical, biological, chemical, and psychological, and they have adverse outcomes on both the patients and nurses. According to Khamisa, Oldenburg, Peltzer, and Ilic (2015), occupational hazards can result in work-related stress among nurses that leads to increased burnout, job satisfaction and attrition from the profession. Therefore, it is important to identify effective strategies for minimizing occupational hazards in a nursing practice setting to improve health outcomes. This evidence-based practice (EBP) project will evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed intervention based on the best research evidence generated from the study findings of high quality as noted by Grove, Gray and Burns (2015).
Research Question
