Comparison and Contrast Essay
Both the U.A.E and Saudi Arabia are nations found in the Gulf region. Thus they tend to share several similarities such as similar economy and citizens in both countries tend to share cultures and traditions. Nevertheless, there happen to be some differences between the two states whereby the leadership and the history of these two nations greatly vary. This comparison essay will focus mainly on particular aspects such as history, people, custom, and the economy. Even though U.A.E and Saudi Arabia share many similarities due to their closeness to one another, they also tend to share some differences.
History of UAE and Saudi Arabia
Before analyzing the difference and the similarities that exist between these two nations, there is a need to investigate their history. On one side, the United Arab Emirates is a small and young federation founded in 1971 and is located in the Persian Gulf along the Arabian Peninsula. It comprises seven states all under a monarch, and Abu Dhabi is the capital city. These seven states are Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Umm al-Quwain, Sharjah, Ajman, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The population of U.A.E is over 6 million citizens, and some of the nations which border U.A.E include Oman and Saudi Arabia (Ramady 70). Over the years Dubai has grown to be the center of tourist attraction in this region a factor that has led to the growth of the nation. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia is a nation with a population of over 28 million citizens and the country traces its origin back in 1744 and is famous due to the oil deposit found in the land.

The language spoken in the country is Arabic, and the citizens are Islamic.
Comparison
The citizens of both UAE and those of Saudi Arabia share several similarities a state that is influenced by their closeness to each other, their common religion which is are Islamic and a similar local language which is Arabic. Citizens of both nations are liberal and are comfortable even when they are among foreigners. Also, the citizens of both countries tend to have a shared culture whereby they share common traditions. For instance, females in both nations are required to wear hijab. Both nations exercised a tradition of chopping mistake doer’s hand an exercise that helped citizens of both countries to be morally upright and to be hard working. Also in both states, kids are highly valued, and parents traditionally arrange marriages (Wynbrandt 283).
The other similarities that exist between the two nations are that they have a similar economy that relies heavily on oil mines found in the region. Also, both countries have natural gas which contributes to their economy’s GDP (Jammazi 1740). Nevertheless, during the recent years, U.A.E has expanded their sources of revenue whereby they have encouraged foreign nations to invest in the region by removing the existing barriers which previously didn’t favor foreign investors.
Contrast
The difference that exists between Saudi Arabia and U.A.E is majorly on their government. On one side U.A.E is a federation of the monarch and have a federal constitution while Saudi Arabia is under an absolute monarchy. On the one, hand the constitution used by Saudi Arabian government was issued by royal decree and was proposed by the king. On one side, U.A.E had a national constitution drafted by Supreme Council and passed by the Federal National Council. Therefore, the U.A.E constitution fulfills the will of the citizens whereby there are national elections while that of Saudi Arabia achieves the wish of the king and there aren’t elections to select the ruler of the nation.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it’s evident that even though U.A.E is smaller than Saudi Arabia they have more similarities compared to their differences. This factor is facilitated by their similar way of communication, their location where they are close to each other and their able leaders.
