How will you select your sample population and give the rationale behind your decision
Stratified sampling will be used in this study because it can help to establish a more representative sample of the population (Alvarez-Jimenez, et al., 2014). The research focuses on the effects of the social media and its effects on the mental health conditions. We have various social media platforms which include Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google plus, snapchat, Pinterest among others. In search of our results, every social media platform must be considered before the overall analysis is done. A stratified random sampling subdivides the population into partitions with similar characteristics. In this case, the target group using Facebook can be one set (Valkenburg, Peter & Schouten, 2016. The sample of use is now selected from every set. The members of a category are selected in relation to the proportion they appear in the population (Valkenburg, & Peter, 2009). The ratios must be observed for successful stratified sampling. This method enables the subdivision of the population into features of importance for the research.
This sampling method was preferred because it is best used when the measurements under considerations are expected to vary in various sets. The effect of a particular media platform may have a different rate of mental health effect. The splitting of the population into different groups help overcome the cons of random sampling.

This guarantees that every section of the population is adequately represented. Precise information can be found within the subcategories about the variables. This helps to enhance the precision of the study that ensures the reliability of the data (. Lenhart, et al., 2010). It also provides better results in relation to random sampling, when the sets are more homogeneous internally and more heterogeneous among them which depicts my case study.
