Abstract
The society is made up of persons from varying backgrounds and all walks of life. The ability to live and coexist peacefully with each other depends on the observance of the law. A lawless society would be ungovernable, and this explains why rules dictate how everyone should behave to avoid jeopardizing or compromising the civil liberties of other persons. Individuals are expected to do what is right and moral, but this is not always the case. The criminal justice system is mandated with the role of ensuring that there is order in the society. In the wake of civilization, democracy is a necessity, and the constitution dictates what is lawfully right and wrong. In a constitutional democracy, law enforcement agencies have a prescribed approach that they use to control crime. However, this approach is neither dictated by a single party nor the majority. Additionally, there is also an outlined criminal procedure which all parties should follow.
Identify and describe the difference between crime control for a police state, a pure democracy, and constitutional democracy.
In a police state, the police are subservient to a single party, a dictator, and neither the judiciary nor the legislature has control over how crime is controlled. Instead, the dictator dictates who should be arrested and who should not because he/she can order the arrest of any individual, at any time and place without considering their civil liberty.

In a pure democracy, the ruling government dictates how crime should be controlled. Law enforcement officers are given directives on individuals that should be arrested. On most occasions, they are ordered to target individuals who are opposing the ruling party. However, constitutional democracy is where neither a single dictator nor the majority dictates how crime should be controlled. Instead, law enforcement agencies follow the laws outlined in the constitution to assure citizens of security and crime-free society. Crime control is therefore aimed at securing the safety of citizen and at the same time respecting other crucial values such as personal liberty, confidentiality, and dignity (Pollock, 2010, 36).
Identify the states of the day-to-day operations of criminal procedure, which crime control agencies and officials control these operations and the kind of law that controls their monopoly.
The modern criminal procedure is a stepwise process that follows the dictates of the criminal justice system as outlined in the constitution. It all starts with the investigation procedure where police officers tour the streets and other public places to ensure that everyone is observing law and order. Besides their regular encounter with crime suspects, law enforcement officers can also be hinted about a criminal who is roaming scot-free in the society. Police officers will detain suspects of criminal behaviors to a police station for further interrogation and identification. If there is enough evidence to convict the suspect for undermining individual civil liberties, he/she will be taken to a court of law for pretrial (Pollock, 2010, 274). Trial and sentencing later follow although all this is usually done at the lower courts. However, the suspect has a right to file an appeal hoping to overturn the ruling of the lower courts.
