I learned about CRISPR which a term used to refer to a technology of gene editing and was derived by mechanisms used by viruses to detect as well as destroy DNA of viruses that had previously infected bacteria. It is, therefore, a DNA sequence that has been found to possess great capabilities of editing, removing and destroying specific gene DNA sequences and recent studies have been done on human embryo (Magee, Kleyn, Monks, Betz, & Basnet, 2018).
CRISPR, therefore, represents technology that can be used for editing the genome and one of the promises of such technology is the treatment of diseases that are caused by genetic mutations (Magee, Kleyn, Monks, Betz, & Basnet, 2018).
Press, (2017), explores the conflict between the tremendous medical possibilities that can arise as a result of the use of CRISPR technology and also the ethical challenges that can arise as a result of continuous use of the technology which can result to the development of designer babies. It is a technology that is still in the research and development phase, and this means that it has not yet been permitted for use on humans. However, I believe that its development and application is inevitable because (Press, 2017). Nonetheless, the world needs to iron out the ethical issues of its use before it can be applied because it has the capacity of changing the fabric of humanity because of the ability to design babies based on the traits that people want.

It is technology like numerous others which are recognized by their capacity to advance human lives and in this circumstance the capacity to avert some of the most chronic disease affecting people. Research shows there, therefore, far more genetic complications in the population that previously recorded and this means that CRISPR provides a great opportunity for change in the medical field (Press, 2017).
