Definition Essay
Life is the existence aspect that encompasses actions, evaluations, reactions, processes, and evolution through the process of growth: metabolism and reproduction. The fundamental difference between the lack of life and life lies in the use of energy for conscious and physical development of living things (Dupre and Maureen, 12). Life is characterized by growth and an eventual death; the point at which proliferation and cognition cease. Viruses, for instance, have a life not in the sense that they are cognizant (seen from their response to stimuli) but because they grow and reproduce. Computers don’t have a life since, despite being cognizant biological development and reproduction is impossible. Cognition, therefore, cannot determine life, but rather propagation and maturation towards death as it only befalls living things.
The cycle of life cannot be terminated. For a living organism to be said to exist within an environment, there has to be a collection of other organisms that are either identical or non-identical to it. In a bid to gratify its reproductive needs, the organism is contingent upon other organisms to create another life of its kind. Human beings are the highest form of life because of their high mental capacities. With advanced minds, human beings have the ability to accumulate and process vast information inputs by ‘projecting’ the resulting output onto the primary environmental source.

Despite the advancement, people are still driven by the need to reproduce and survive. The process of recreation, however, directs humans to experience the world’s increasingly aesthetic nature; making it a beautiful and rich place to breed life.
According to humans, unlike many other living things, life is a continuum of discovery, failure, accomplishment, challenge, dilemma, appreciation, boredom, disappointment, sadness, reaction to all kinds of stimuli, among other things. It is possible to merely exist or make an effort to achieve, conquering the difficult times and learning in the process. Life is made up of both evil and good as actions that determine relationships. The mind stands at the center of life controlling beliefs and thoughts (Thompson, 10). With positive mindedness comes the realization of dreams and potentials, creativity, and innovation. Negativity, on the other hand, causes stagnation and misery. The challenge about life is the fear of fully expressing oneself and valiantly implementing ideas. Many people fail to realize their full potential by allowing their environment to define their course.
Life has an exciting capability to go against human plans by sticking to fate or simply presenting bad luck. It is not easy to stomach failure as it crushes a person, but learning from it and making new plans is the best way to remain relevant. In life, there are small moments that can be cherished and pleasant surprises too. It is all about weighing the bad and the good moments and successfully striking a balance between both to end up with a life magnificent enough to bring happiness. Existence is by far the most complex and diverse of concepts that have been elucidated in various fields of human knowledge including science, philosophy, and religion as it exists on many levels. It is about the everlasting and unbroken flow of inestimable synchronized events that through a fortuitous sequence has resulted in all the elements present in the universe. Life has various meanings depending on the ideals imposed upon it which influence the demands the society makes of it.
