Duplicate Report on Master Patient Index (PMI)
Name
Institutional

Duplicating patient records within a Master Patient Index (MPI) has become an issue of growing concern. Larry Hansard (2011) defines an MPI as the healthcare provider’s database designed to hold patient’s information in a clinical facility. The data quality presented on the Master Patient Index (PMI) of the registration system taskforce shows some large errors regarding the misspelled names, missing security numbers, and typos. For instance, owing to the data misrepresentation, the bar chart below has been drawn to help clean-up the errors present in the total number of duplicates by each department.

ADMIT ED SCHED MPI
29527528575000
Incorrect Data
31432521907500
Invalid Data
29527516256000
Missing Data
From the bar chart above, is clear that the MPI department appears to be the one creating most of the duplicates. Thus, the single patient data in the MPI department can be therefore said to be associated with more than one patient record where duplicates are being created out of patients’ names. The above statements are true according to the charts I have drawn.
Regarding the training plan put in place, the more alienable priorities will be on the complex spellings of names that will need to be corrected. Similarly, from the bars above, one can easily conclude that the variation of names in the patient data will have to be verified and validated to remove the possibility of creating errors in the duplicate (Larry Hansard, 2011).

Wait! DETAILED DUPLICATE REPORT paper is just an example!

However, I would recommend each department to regularly review their creation duplicate rates like after every two weeks for consistency and accuracy purposes. My recommendation is essential according to the results depicted from the bar charts above. Furthermore, the organization should always review the duplicate created in various departments as well to identify sharing among patients.
