Presenting Problem
Maya (name changed for confidentiality) is a 45-year-old woman who works at a pharmaceutical firm in the Salt Lake City. She was born in Puerto Rico but migrated to the United States to join her uncle at seven (Medina, 2018). She made her first visit to Highland Ridge Hospital one week ago to seek treatment for prolonged stress and anxiety. Maya reported that after being transferred to a new department, she had developed some nervousness because of playing catch-up with her colleagues, a problem that is common with the elderly in new working conditions (McDowell & Fossey, 2015). She noted that due to the compulsion to learn, she is unable to disengage from work and the stress affects her even at home.
Background Information
Through the biopsychosocial assessment, it emerged that although she had cultural transition challenges, she had not experienced any depression in the entirety of her stay in the US. Furthermore, she has been working since she was 22, a period in which she has built an extensive comprehension of the workplace dynamics (Medina, 2018). She joined her current company five years ago and had been working in the same designation since then. However, two months ago, the firm enforced some reorganization which saw Maya deployed to the information technology department. Maya intimated that these changes were hurriedly implemented and she was the only one added to the department.

Subsequently, she is working with people who are up-to-date with the system unlike her, which is the genesis of her problems (Harrington & Heidkamp, 2013). She neither understands the concepts nor industrious enough to grasp them at the same pace as her colleagues. She also stays alone a few miles away from her extended family
