Discussion: Get Local: Rate Your Environment
In my local City, the environment is clean without any unwanted materials. The local government ensures that trash and other undesirable materials are placed in safe areas, especially where it does not lead to adverse or harmful effects. Knowing the significance and successfulness of proper environment enables the residents to appreciate its contributions and usefulness towards the quality of life. The waste materials do not exist in the neighborhood (Bennett et al., 2013). Cleaning takes place twice every week to minimize exposure to hazardous substances hence reducing risks while leading to a sanitary state. The city authorities maintain, operate and design processes to suit the needs of the inhabitants. Through cleaning, the city can eliminate health risk and undesirable products. The city has parks where residents and their children can relax in their free time (Mack, 2013).
However, despite the efforts made to keep our city clean, the levels of air pollution remains high due to smoke produced by industries and vehicle. Recently, the national environmental agencies revealed that the concentration of air pollution is higher than the recommended levels. For this reason, industries are encouraged to ensure that they use modern technologies that reduce the level of environmental pollutions (Bennett et al., 2013). Apart from industrial pollution, higher population density increases the pressure on existing public resources such as parks leading environmental pollution.

For instance, it increases the waste materials in the garbage boxes leading to unclean environments (Wheeler & Beatley, (Eds.) 2014). Some people visiting the public parks throw rubbish items, plastics, polythene, and papers in public areas. However, such practices should be banned to maintain a clean city. The city authorities also initiate a program to sensitize residents on the importance of clean environments.
