Purpose of the meeting: The role of Health Information Systems in improving the quality of healthcare is recognized all across the globe. This meeting would explore the pros and cons of implementing an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system at the Rasmussen Medical Center (RMC). The proposed EMR would improve the quality of care and reduce the chances of malpractice claims for the organization. The major objective of the meeting was to explore the quality measures that could enhance the reputation and image of the RMC.

Other Attendees: Management staff, staff from insurance and corporate helpdesk, physicians and nursing professionals from the emergency department, and customer care staff.
Discussion Points/Minutes:
Challenges faced by the departments of emergency care, customer care, billing and insurance services at the Rasmussen Medical Center: Issues such as medical errors, billing discrepancy, diagnostic delays, malpractice claims, wait times, and patient turnover rates were discussed.
Selection and implementation of EMR: Group inclined to use EMR for addressing issues that jeopardized quality of care, safety of patients, reduced profitability and decreased patient turnover at the respective departments and the hospital as a whole.
Assessing the feasibility of Implementing EMR: Stakeholders inquired to state their expectations and needs from the EMR system, readiness assessment of the team and the management of the RMC, brainstorming to develop a work-flow and the possible roadmap for selecting and implementing the EMR.
