Environmental Security
The continued environmental degradation attributed to pollution and other human activities has resulted in global warming and climate change. These have threatened the survival of human beings and crops because of the shift in weather patterns and climatic conditions. Governments have reacted by embarking on reforms on the policies to include social-ecological factors linked to the availability of natural resources. National security extended its reach to accommodate environmental issues that posed a danger to the very existence of human beings. According to the reading, despite China being one of the fasters growing economies it has stuck to the traditional security model that places the Chinese people in harm’s way as the reality of climate intensifies with each passing year. The Chinese policymakers have focused on technological advancements instead of adopting adaptive reforms to keep with the emerging trends on environmental conservation.
China has failed to show the resilience of the social-ecological issues exposing the nation to degradation, inadequate food supply, urbanization and the availability of clean water. According to the author, the absence of policy implementation and poor institutional coordination are to blame for the current crisis and the looming danger to the well-being of the Chinese populace. Moreover, the government has been unable to ensure transparency among the officials weakening the flow of information.

Wait! Environmental Security paper is just an example!

The only way forward is the reforms in the policy implementation process to incorporate environmental factors through giving political incentives to officials. On the other hand, the integration of urban-planning as part of the national security will ensure that problems arising from urbanization are catered for by the strategies put in place. China should also seek to maintain multilateral relations with other countries as a way of taking part in the joint efforts of tackling climate change and other environmental problems.
