The study of native American society is challenging due to the primitive era in which they lived. However, researchers have employed geological, archaeological, and oral tradition studies to enable understanding of this aspect of history (Stebbins 2). Arguably, the Native Americans were civilized as demonstrated through their ceremonies, authentic culture, agriculture, and advanced supportive technology.
The Native Americans were observably diverse in its civilization as demonstrated in their way of life. Further, they engaged in gathering grains and fruits but depended mostly on hunting (Dalal 2). Additionally, their civilized skills were demonstrated in the way they sharpened stones and bones; then fastened them on poles to make spears for hunting (Tetek 10). Notably, this enabled them to kill large animals for meat. Undeniably, all these were possible courtesy of their diverse food, and technology.
Furthermore, the Native Americans were diverse in view of how they made use of every part of their prey. For instance, they made clothing and shelter from skins of their prey and used bones to make tools that they use in cutting, and spearing (Stebbins 6). Moreover, the Native Americans were able to adjust to the environmental changes as they continued to grow and subdue their sources of food. For example, there is evidence of canals for irrigated agriculture and advanced housing made of stones, illustrating technological diversity and sophistication exhibited by the society (Thornton 442).

Indeed, this level of civilization can only attest at their diversity.
Moreover, the Europeans viewed the Native Americans and their civilization with general condescending attitude. In most cases, the Europeans misunderstood them due to the communication barrier and despised their culture (Tetek 5). In the Europeans views, the Natives were not only uncivilized but also unreligious; hence, a threat to survival. Indeed, these differences always lead to conflicts when the Europeans sought to patronize them (Thornton 443). Undoubtedly, the treatments indicate the general disdainful attitude the Europeans had towards the natives.
In conclusion, historians have used oral tradition, archeology, and geological studies to explain the life of the Native Americans who by the standards of that period were arguably diverse in terms of their civilization. In spite of the patronizing attitude the Europeans had towards them, they were able to defend their civilization, only picking from the Europeans what was convenient like the iron tools.
