Good evening everyone. It is a great pleasure and an honor for me to deliver this farewell speech. Today, we are all here to bid goodbye to our great boss madam Jeanne. I had worked with Jeanne for eight years, starting when I was in the Controller’s Office. By the time I first met her, I viewed how she was interacting with her team members and wished I could be part of the team. A year later, I joined Development Services. Working with her as my boss has opened many opportunities for my coworkers and me. Jeanne has been so passionate about our well-being and career advancement as her members of staff.
As the CFO of the organization, Jeanne was very supportive in her docket whenever there was a need. In her position in the organization, however, Jeanne did not give orders as most people in her position do; she gave us direction to follow. She didn’t give us targets. She gave us a vision. And also Jeanne led us with respect and not with authority as most leaders do. She also displays a lot of empathy.
Once she is gone some of the qualities that we will miss in the position she was holding in the organization are; the compassionate heart that is always there for others. We will miss a good listener, an advocate for her team who is always ready to listen and understand both sides of the issue. And above all a determined and hardworking leader.
In the last few years, there has been an introduction of many changes in our organization. We are implementing the ADAPT program, which has really been challenging to manage.

Wait! Farewell to Jeanne paper is just an example!

Jeanne was there with us every step of the way, and we are very grateful for her support. We will always view Jeanne as a mentor to all that worked with her. Words are not enough to express how much we are going to miss her. We are glad she is staying at Stanford, and moving to VPUE. We, as an organization, will continue to benefit from the wealth of knowledge she has.
As I conclude, I want to thank Jeanne for the good work she has done in the organization. Charles Erwin once said, “A good boss makes her men realize they have more ability than they think they have so that they consistently do better work than they thought they could”. And that is what Jeanne has done to us. Thank you.
