The escalating controversies surrounding the health sector impedes the execution of quality services around the globe. Overlooking or exercising negligence when conducting one’s fiduciaries duties by health care providers or physicians is a contributing factor to this problematic issue. Therefore, a radiology manager should be keen on protecting the interests of their patients, ensure that they receive quality health care, and access vital information or documents.
A primary fiduciary responsibility of a radiology director is serving the best interests displayed by patients. Importantly, a fiduciary relationship should be developed between the radiology supervisor and the patients. In this case, patients are referred to as principals. A radiology manager should not take advantage of any patient because the act may result in a breach of their fiduciary duty (Milstein, 2008). It is important that the radiology manager directs and inspects that services are delivered to clients. The radiology director should establish proper work procedures and practices.
Additionally, allowing patients to have access to appropriate information and records concerning their health is another fiduciary duty of the radiology manager. Milstein (2008) affirms that a radiology manager should accurately communicate the risks involved when patients undergo examinations like X-rays or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Patients are highly exposed to radioactive rays that may have adverse effects on an individual’s health.
