In the authors’ view, the average family, and the changing family trends are statistical data that correlate. Secondly, economic activities are reshaping families in America. This aspect reflects the changing family trends and pairing. The patterns in families and economic redistribution is creating classism which the authors support succinctly. The authors’ arguments are also valid to the extent that economic well-being and family structure in America is linked, and demographics in families are reflections of financial implications.
The authors are concerned with the trends in marriage, and in particular, the diminishing marriages in most impoverished communities. Therefore, the explanation of family change is a factor in economic inequality where choices to marry is an alignment of economic statuses. ‘Script’ is metaphorical because our choices, and decisions about marriages are no longer in our hands. Instead, it is a dictate of our pocket. Citing the changing roles of women from “conservative, religious to their willingness to raise children” alone shows that our choices are now constrained basing on our economic positions (Carbone and Cahn 85).
Classism creates disparities between men and men, and women and women. According to the authors, social class has categorized most men in the bottom third of the population, and within this class, there is a continued rise in disparities between women and men.

Additionally, gender bargain is a factor that now affects more men than women because men fight more to pair up with women of the same social class. The evidence in the lives of colleagues relates to this case because educated or high-status women are now reluctant to pair.
It is possible to accept the authors’ views on marriage markets because marriage markets, romantic love, and soul mate marriage are three distinct attributes. Secondly, the authors’ view on marriage markets is about finding the right pair. However, once one establishes the pair and that the two couples are from the same economic demographics then romantic love, and soul mate marriage will fit within their contexts.
