Green Taxes: What are they and how they are paid

In recent years, an increase in pollution that abounds our planet has been observed, which has motivated correction measures to be sought.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) groups 36 member countries and its mission is to promote policies that improve the economic and social well -being of people around the world. It is worth mentioning that Mexico is part of this organization, and together with other member countries they have supported the use of economic instruments for environmental protection, such as green taxes, which are part of those policies that seek social and economic well -being.

Some of these countries have introduced in their fiscal systems, taxes, fees and contributions to protect the environment. The OECD states that green taxes have the ability to compensate certain market failures, and if they do not complete it, at least it inhibits consumption and prevents more pollutants from generating. Tax rates lead producers and consumers to have more friendly or aware behavior of their environment and in turn provides incentives for the development of less polluting technologies

The tax collection burden has focused on issues of environmental interest such as electric power taxes, fuel consumption such as diesel, gasoline, taxes on the acquisition of new cars, products with high caloric density, taxes that tax extraction andexploitation of natural resources, among others.

Wait! Green Taxes: What Are They And How They Are Paid paper is just an example!

The main problem is not that taxes are generated as a form of collection or mitigation of consumption, but that citizens do not have the culture of caring for the environment and coupled with this complain that they have to make a contribution for it.

The main characteristics of this problem are the lack of knowledge by citizens and companies in the care of the environment and the lack of dissemination of the environmental benefits that in the long term can provide a company to reuse their products or use waste inThe production process. Example of the above is cost reduction and the generation of less pollutants.

According to article 31 section IV of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, all Mexicans are obliged to contribute to public spending, however, green or environmental taxes are the only solution to reduce pollution to the environment? Does your payment affect the internal economy of the company? Are they an excuse for companies to pay to pollute? If your payment is not made, in the same way the planet will be in decline?

To answer these questions, it is necessary that the different points of view be addressed, both of the entity and the Federation, to give a timely conclusion that benefits both the environment and the obligatory subject of the payment of the contribution.
