Playing the simulation Inside the Haiti Earthquake, as an aid worker made me come to terms with the fact that disaster management is very tasking, and this is a something that is quite underrated. Some activities go on during the rescue operations, for which a high level of sanity and energy is required. Before playing this game, I had not thought of how the less hurt survivors are dealt with. I mainly thought of how to handle the fatally injured people and those caught underneath the rabbles.
I am of the opinion of that the simulation is very realistic. Being within the simulation, in which no points are awarded, one is encouraged to try out as much as they can. This presents a scenario like the one in real life where some possibilities exist upon the occurrence of earthquakes. The purpose of this simulation would be the sensitization of people about what happens when calamity strikes. Most people in nations that are not prone to earthquakes may not have an understanding of the damage that is caused. More so, they may not be aware of the effort that is required to rescue the survivors as well as catering for those who do not need intense medical attention. It is only through such a simulation that such people can understand. The game achieves its purpose since it is quite realistic, and therefore manages to elicit the feelings of empathy, where those who play it apprehend what transpires when such calamities happen.

The simulation was realistic in the manner that it covered all the activities that happen in real life. The graphics are also excellent, and they give the simulation a touch of realism. Further to that, activities such as crime which is usually prevalent in real life scenarios are also well presented in the simulation (Inside Disaster, 2010). In instances such as the one involving the polluted water source, one gets to have an actual opportunity to face the calamity from the point of realism, for which one is expected to ensure that those succumbing to the effects of the pollution are also taken care of (Inside Disaster, 2010). I, however, found the manner in which one can view what they are meant to face while at the scene of calamity unrealistic. In most real-life situations, no one knows what he or she are bound to face when calamity strikes. Thus all one can do is to prepare for the worst. The simulation would have, however, been more educational if it had incorporated detailed reference materials that could be accessed upon demand. As such, one would pause the simulation and learn if they are doing what should be done in real life situation.
Finally, managing disasters in Bhutan and Brunei would generally be challenging as large populations generally come with high numbers of casualties. It also means that more effort is required to attend to the victims. Making efforts to handle the issue in these two countries would require additional resources (Andre & Lusk, 2011). This would call for support from available sources on a global scope. The amount of support received would be massive since the world is gradually being sensitized on matters regarding post-earthquake situations.
