I could start this essay by saying how all my past experiences have prepared me for what is to come, but that would not be entirely accurate. Although I have worked in the healthcare field for quite a long time, it never ceases to amaze me. Likewise, saying that I have learned everything I need to succeed in my field would be a blatant exaggeration.
That innate curiosity is what brings me here today, compelling me to keep learning to provide a better aid to those who need me. After graduating in Food and Nutrition in 1988, I pursued a career as a Family Support Specialist. Those experiences gave me a first-hand experience of people’s needs and the opportunity to help them overcoming their hurdles. That way, watching others succeed and vanquishing their limitations is one of the greatest satisfactions in my life.
I could say I have chosen my career path based on my life experiences. I grew up in a small town in Mississippi, where I experienced the limitations of many families and my own of getting adequate medical attention. This not only made me understand better the backgrounds of people I worked with but also made compassionate and truly attentive to the others’ needs.
That is why I have chosen to continue my studies in Health Administration. Upon reviewing my life, thanks to this assignment, I realized it is not only the most sensible thing to do, but it seems like the next logical step in becoming the professional I have always wanted to be.

That is why I chose Belhaven University as my school of choice, an institution whose values and educational activities will surely help me through this experience on becoming a better professional while becoming a better person.
