The Miami VA Healthcare system is a health facility that serves Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties in South Florida. This medical facility provides services to both inpatient and outpatient, medical and surgical health services. It has various centers such as AIDS/HIV center, clinical center, and the spinal cord rehabilitative center. The services offered at Miami VA health care system are facilitated through various departments. The organizational structure for this health care facility controls and coordinates the roles, power and responsibilities for the employees (“IT Organizational Design | OpsDog,” 2016).
The primary purpose of the IT department in this facility is to develop, manage and maintain the technological field made up of hardware, software, procedures and systems. The employees in this department are involved in the administration of information systems, business intelligence, data management and network connectivity. The IT support group also enables the other staff in the medical facility in carrying out the technology related functions with ease and that malfunctions in the department do not interfere with the workflow (Alexis, 2016).
Its unit is made up of employees in various subdivisions. These subdivisions in the facility include the application management, user support services, IT management and administration, IT procurement, security and network administration. The application management team maintains technology related assets and systems for the facility.

The IT management and administration has roles in ensuring that all the IT related activities are in line with the facilities goals, mission, and vision. Security and network administration sub-department manages the information system and mitigate against the computer risks. They also maintain service servers and network (“Miami VA Healthcare System,” 2016).
In these facilities, the workers are involved in their specialty fields in which they are best. The job movement is limited regarding job roles and description. Instances where the job duties overlap, workers are allowed to work in fields different from their primary department. The organizational structure in IT department ensures proper control and coordination of technology related information in the facility. The IT organization design should have a centralized structure that creates independence among the departments. This will ensure the effective conduct of their operations towards the realization of the facilities goals and objectives.
