Throughout human history, technology has evolved to fit the needs of the society. Furthermore, most of the industries utilize technology for the betterment of the society. Over the last ten years, technical advancement has been a key element in making life and work easier globally. No other sector has been more affected by technological advancement than the healthcare industry. Technology is utilized to find cures, create vaccines, and discover the cause of diseases. It helps prolong life and improve connections thus providing better mental and physical health (Nelson and Staggers, 2016). The paper is going to discuss specific ways in which technology has affected healthcare.
Technology has improved patient care and efficiency significantly. Patient care has become more consistent. In this industry, information is the most essential element since everything relies on data such as analyzing diagnostic reports and filling patients’ medical history. Supercomputers are used by health professionals to make precise diagnoses and recommend the right treatments. Today, physicians often use hand-held computers to record vital real-time patient data, which is updated to their medical history. Having the patients’ data in one central area has increased efficiency since most of the patients’ health history is available to the doctors as well as scientists (Nelson and Staggers, 2016).

Special software programs have been developed to improve health care and disease control. There are various softwares that track procedures and billing methods for all stakeholders in the health industry thus increasing efficiency. Electronic medical records have created a more transparency (Nelson and Staggers, 2016). The World Health Organization has developed a massive database to classify all diseases. This information is used to track and control diseases as well as provide better health care to the society.
Technology has facilitated better and more accessible treatment. Information technology has opened up many avenues for people to access health services. Improved communication has created a better link between patients and doctors (Nelson and Staggers, 2016). Patients can access their personal information online hence have greater controls over their health. Additionally, remote monitoring technology has reduced the time and cost associated with visits to health centers.
