Application of Critical Thinking in Everyday Life
During the course, I have gained substantive knowledge of how to use critical thinking skills that are applicable in addressing human conflict. The course has been valuable in enhancing my ability to evaluate information, problem-solving, approaching cross-cultural perspective, and revolving controversies, as well as dilemmas. I am capable of incorporating the critical thinking skills in the analysis of texts. In this reflection paper, I will focus on illustrating three critical concepts I have learned in the course: problem-solving techniques, cross-cultural perspective, and forms of argument.
Firstly, I have been able to grab adequate knowledge on diverse aspects, facets, or components of an argument. These components of an argument include issues, evidence, positions, and resolutions. I will focus on the use of these components and knowledge to form diverse arguments, as well as analyze arguments in everyday life (Paul & Elder, 2013). In the course of understanding an argument, I will focus on listening carefully and effectively with the obligation of understanding diverse aspects and components of the argument. Secondly, I will concentrate on using the concepts of the course to engage in argumentative situations through supporting or falsifying diverse views with reasons and substantive evidence. That is one of the essential components of critical thinking.

Furthermore, I will be able to use the concepts of the course to ensure that I respond to the raised points during an argument. Similarly, I have been able to gain substantive knowledge of the course to facilitate effectiveness and efficiency in understanding an argument through asking intriguing and rational questions.
Additionally, I will be able to integrate concepts of critical thinking to facilitate effective and efficient problem solving. Everyday life tends to associate with diverse issues or problems. That demands the integration of critical thinking to provide valuable solutions in agreement with the context of the problem. From that perspective, I will be able to use aspects of the critical thinking course to identify the problem. The first or initial step towards handling or solving an issue is to identify the facets or components relating to the problem, thus the concept of the problem statement. Besides, I will be able to focus on the concept of critical thinking from the course to identify alternative solutions to the problem (Paul & Elder, 2006). That requires creativity in the provision of the solutions to the issues affecting the society. Furthermore, identification of the alternative solutions will provide the platform for the execution of cost-benefit analysis. In that context, I will be able to integrate the concepts of the course to facilitate examination or exploration of the implications, both positive and negative, of each alternative. It will be vital towards making an appropriate decision on the most effective solution to the problem at hand.
Finally, I can incorporate the concepts of the course to engage appropriately with the cross-cultural contexts. That is through recognition of diversity in cultures, as well as an appreciation of the differences in languages. Nevertheless, there is need to utilize these concepts towards examining the use of language in the cultural contexts. In the modern society, language is vital in diverse contexts. One of the critical contexts for integration of language is advertising. I will manage to use these concepts to analyze advertisements, as well as strategies to gain the attention or capture the awareness of the target audience.
