How to carry responsible business behavior

INTRODUCTION

According to the International Organization of Employers (IOE) ” Human Rights’ and ”Understand it fully (regardless of its size, sector, location, property and structure).

The participation of the business sector, whether public or private is essential to achieve sustainable development and advance in the fulfillment of international mandates in human rights, environment, labor rights and equity. ILO (International Labor Organization).

Companies in Latin America

Companies today in Latin America have a social commitment to their community and environment this for environmental, social, political and cultural reasons.

Taking care of your environment, committing to your community, allows your image not to be stained with society, and have a sustainable and broad growth where your image is not affected. Comment by Author: To what extent the environmental, social, political and cultural aspects are so relevant that it allows the private sector to acquire a commitment to the community. Now in the case of the Mineras Barrick Gold and even the companies that affect the environment are willing to pay large sums of money for fines, repair environmental damage or approach the community to offer benefits to buy the consent of the people who liveIn a sector. I think that at this point they were as a very successful group to sincere from the beginning an image problem of the companies.

Wait! How To Carry Responsible Business Behavior paper is just an example!

Something very common where corporate social responsibility can be seen in the companies of our country is dare to use the tax franchise in training for the community that is in environments where companies are located, for example, process plantslocated in sectors where populations are located and where they can be causing environmental damage in the environment and people. Comment by Author: Lack of spelling. Comment by Author: Comment by Author: I observe this part as a kind of poorly developed compensation because it is about paying business guilt with certain benefits that are outside the law.

This is why they grant trades through training to vulnerable environments where they can control the impact of their production. Comment by Author: It is the same, in the sense that in my perception companies are highly harmful and what the only one that produces the damage according to certain environmental laws and opinions, but then they leave place or sectors and damage is finallyirreparable.

Companies have a high commitment like the State so that the behavior towards the community is as responsible as possible. Comment by Author: State is capital letter. Eye, that’s the same is important. Comment by Author: Comment by Author: In what context this responsibility can be measured. Eye because it can be a philanthropic line without a real livelihood of wanting to be responsible for society and its purposes are at the end of the way for profit.

International Labor Standards and Declarations of Principles of ILO

As for international labor regulations, we can see that they are legal instruments prepared by the ILO drivers (governments, employers and workers) in order to state the fundamental principles and rights at work and to regulate other areas of the labor world. Comment by Author: Very good because as a legal instrument (legal nature), it has an international jurisdictional force. Comment by Author:

ILO value the human person supporting them in their abilities, skills and wisdom prioritizing their safety, without giving rise to discrimination by giving opportunities to the personnel that require a job.

The ILO has adopted several statements, being the most important:

  •  The Philadelphia Declaration (1944): The Philadelphia Declaration constitutes a letter of purposes and objectives of the organization.
  •  The Declaration on Gender Equality (1975): The Declaration on Gender Equality establishes equal opportunities and treatment of workers and tries to eliminate all ways of discriminating against women.
  •  The declaration related to the fundamental principles and rights at work (1998): the declaration related to the fundamental principles and rights in work determines some fundamental rights and principles at work which must be observed by the parties regardless of ratificationscarried out.
  •  The declaration on social justice for equitable globalization (2008): The declaration on social justice expresses the contemporary vision of the ILO mandate in the era of globalization. The tripartite declaration of principles on multinational companies and social policy.

Declaration of the ILO to promote responsible business behavior

The expectation that goods and services must be produced and supplied responsibly, in accordance with international standards that guarantee respect for human rights, decent work and environmental protection. In recent decades, convergence has been observed standards on responsible business behavior (CER), also, business responsibility to respect human rights, companies and civil society in Latin American countries also have a greater interest in promoting behaviorResponsible business. Comment by Author: Which standards? Comment by Author: Comment by Author: It could be considered that Monsanto companies that are a transnational company producing agrochemicals and biotechnology for the homogenization of agriculture, recently bought by chemist-pharmaceutical bayer, which really possess a business responsibility. That you can tell us as students if there is corporate social responsibility with the level of corruption and economic crimes with Penta companies.

The project is implemented for ILO, OECD and UNHCT, is funded and designed in collaboration with the European Union. Comment by Author: At this point I believe that these organizations for the level of links that they have in interests created by the millionaire contributions and generation of contracts do not grant the necessary trust to talk about CSR.

The objective of the project is to promote intelligent, sustainable and inclusive growth in the European Union and Latin America by supporting the practice of responsible business behavior together with the instruments of the Unit, the ILO and the OECD.

The project is part of the European Union commitment to promote human rights, decent work and sustainable development.

A combination of regional and national activities will be included, specific to each country, these activities were implemented in nine Latin American countries including Chile, which have been selection on the basis of the interest identified between governmental, business actors and civil society.

Project activities are being implemented by ILO, OCD and UNHDUD. Which is the first time that the three organizations come together with the support of the European Union. Each organization will contribute the project with its respective mandates, instrument and experience.

The challenges of responsible business behavior in Latin America

Nicolás Torres, National Coordinator Project Business Behavior. Responsible in Latin America and the Caribbean, it expresses that: ‘’ companies, without distinction of the origin of their property, are also going through a crisis, mainly linked to the lack of confidence of consumers and citizens.’’

The crisis that is expressed apart from economic is also communicative. We need as users and businessmen, good horizontal communication. It is where we also talk about the media and the image that this company represents for the receivers;RSE (corporate social responsibility) is a keyword directly related to responsible business behavior. In this way, it is necessary to clarify that as the same author indicates, the responsible business conduct goes beyond simple compliance with national laws and should not be understood as equivalent to philanthropy.

This is why I first want to analyze what business behavior means responsible with employers; The ILO adopted the concept of decent work defining it as the one who dignifies the human person and allows the development of their abilities and potentialities, is respectful of the fundamental rights at work and has a fair income that allows decent subsistence. He also points out that decent work is done safely and informed, is socially protected, allows and promotes social dialogue and tripartism, without accommodating arbitrary discrimination. Not acting in a responsible manner can generate considerable costs for companies that, on many occasions, are not taken into account, such as:

  •  Delays in operations due to strikes and protests
  •  loss of productivity
  •  Loss of personnel in the resolution of conflicts related to human rights costs relative to possible litigation;
  •  Damage to reputation
  •  Loss of business opportunities.

Regarding international labor standards and the statements of ILO (International Labor Organization) we can highlight what was approved in 1977 the tripartite declaration of principles on multinational companies and social policy, which was updated in 2017. The elimination of all forces of forced or mandatory labor;the effective abolition of child labor;and the elimination of discrimination in employment and occupation. As noted above, decent work is one that develops with observance of these fundamental principles and rights at work.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in April, conducted a small analysis about corporate social responsibility and COVID-19, where it mentions that the crisis related to the virus pandemic called COVID-19 has generatedgreat interruptions in the economy and life of companies, whether or not they may continue their activities. These interruptions are creating a wide range of impacts on companies, many of which have financial difficulties. The COVID-19 crisis and the subsequent response have exposed important vulnerabilities in the operations of companies and supply chains linked to working conditions and disaster preparation.

As a result, the health and livelihoods of workers are in danger. Unfortunately, the dismissal increased cause of many companies that closed. However, a proposal to cope with the virus in a good way is to use what we mentioned above, the ‘’ RSE ’’ (corporate social responsibility);Assuming the crisis that we are living today, the image and responsibility of a company, is extremely important and by taking into account Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), organizations directly and immediately impact the lives of citizens andcommunities through programs that promote economic development, education and many other social causes; What is seen today and we are living with world pandemic.

CONCLUSION

Socially responsible companies project a genuine, friendly and close image, which helps create audiences, followers and faithful consumers. We also know that within the framework of responsible behavior of companies, there is the obligation to respect human rights and fundamental rights at work and comply with national laws. Likewise, there is a consensus in which business behavior must go beyond the mere fulfillment of regulatory minimums. If not a good treatment, loyalty with the same collaborators since this projects a good image of them as a company.

It is of the utmost importance as a company, taking social roles and responsible behaviors, especially in today;where triggers the lack of work, food, and the health of many danger. The shares must be immediate, and each company must take charge in a responsible manner of the life of its employee;who is fundamental in the company.

We end, expressing that society demands more commitment and more transparency in aspects such as ethics, values, the fight against fraud and corruption or respect for human rights.
