In this assignment, readers will be able to understand about the Bahamas when it gained independence. From the paper, learners will get the knowledge about the attitude which Britain had when the Bahamas requested to have independence. The opposition which people of Bahamas were facing from within and outside when they were almost gaining independence. Also from the paper people will have to understand the thinking of people of Bahamas toward autonomy and during Independence Day. It will also give an account of people who were living in the Bahamas during that day it was granted freedom.
What was Britain’s attitude to the request from The Bahamas to become independence?
A nation is said to have become independent when it does not depend on another country politically. After going through source A which has been providing I have concluded that Britain had ha different attitudes towards the independence of Bahamas as a country. To begin with, Britain was understandable that the Bahamas needed their independent (Order, 67). They knew that the Bahamas was mature enough to stand on her own. Britain had repeatedly declared that they would not stand in the way of any country which was seeking independence. They Bahamas government expressed the wish to join the commonwealth and remain under the monarchy. The government will retain bicameral parliament which was too limited of five years from its first day of seating. People like Joseph Godber who had a visit to Nassau in 1971 were supportive of Bahamas quest to become independent.

The development of different industries had given Britain hope that the Bahamas could not stand alone.
To finalize this Britain had a variety of attitude toward the Bahamas some were, supportive and other were rude toward his course.

After going through the source, B have come to know that Abaco opposed the independence of Bahamas. This was because they wanted to be a separate island. Before the Bahamas gained independence, the challenges which were being faced by the ruling political party were evident. Some of the parties left o to form their parties. I 1970 the commonwealth party which had since fallen into oblivion when some of its members circulated document that they had been opposed to independence.
Why did many people in 1972 think that independence was a good idea for The Bahamas?
Many people wanted the Bahamas to be independent; this is because it meant that Britain was no longer in control of the financial and economic affairs of the country. The wanted to be under control of the country and the people at large. This also meant that people from Bahama would have a job throughout the Commonwealth countries such as in banks, law enforcement agencies and also have control of their constitution. They also wanted to avert any discrimination which had been a rant in the minority government.

Providence in 1938. I am going to talk about the experience living in The Bahamas during 1973. Life for many Bahamians especially black Bahamians have been so hard leading up to this period.
When the news broke out that we had been granted independence; the joy was overwhelming. We began celebrating and preparing months in advance before July 10th 1973. On April 2, 1973. It had been announced that the Bahamas would have a new flag ‘March On, Bahama land.’ This words on the flag meant to us that we had been close to freedom than we had thought. During this week we took advantage of what was taking place, we had a national arts and crafts exhibition that was held at Jumbey Village from July 8th – July 14th. We had junkanoo groups preparing throughout the island for the parade, which they would be rewarded the highest ever paid for.
Minutes after independence, the Bahamas flag was being raised instead of the union jack. When the flag had been raised chants ‘March on Bahama land’. After independence the thought of not visiting some places or working in some areas was awful.
