Stress is the main challenge we face as college students. This state of emotional or mental strain is derived from various conditions surrounding us. As college students, we experience emotional, tensional or strain when we go to school. However, many people superficially think going to college is all fun and never understand the stress we undergo. In fact, college students are faced with academic, financial and family issues which inhibit studies.
I acknowledge that getting ready for school is a big challenge to me especially attending the morning classes. This means I have to wake up early enough like three hours than others to reach school on time. Another proven challenge is checking Moodle room for any available assignment that need to be completed first before going to class. This is really stressful as sometimes I do forget to do those assignments finding myself in a situation where I need to complete an assignment within a very short period of time.
At times, one may be having a test the following class hour alongside assignments. Despite the existence of assignments, one must verify understanding of a given concept by passing the tests effectively. As seen above, getting to school on time can be stressful, remembering to do homework might be challenging and lastly passing tests add enough stress to any college student. To compensate the lost time while traveling from and to school, I spend 30 extra minutes to study daily.

Another challenge that many students face in college is that of financing their academic bills. Students find it difficult to sustain themselves in college and at the same time pay for classes as they are not sure of continuing or dropping that given class. College students are faced with a challenge of deciding whether to accept or decline financial aid in terms of loans or grants offered by the government. This process is stressful as one is needed to make a choice over a short period of time and the process is also long and tiresome.
Another really stressing factor in the life of a college student is buying studying resources like textbooks. Buying materials like textbooks to supplement studies worry us a lot as the books are so expensive. If a student has bigger amount of registered units to undertake, it means more money will be spent on buying books. Today many students have conceived ways of adapting to the challenges they face in their study life while in college.
For those students living off campus like me, we find it difficult as we will need additional cash to fuel cars to drive us to and from school daily. There are also other bills waiting for us like cooking gas bills, internet, utilities, and light. There are so many bills staring at a college student making life difficult. However, if a student is determined he or she can surpass all these challenges.
In conclusion, college students undergo a lot of stress in financing their studies as well as living at home and urban centers where the peaceful environment is not guaranteed. Siblings in the house may scapegoat be blamed for failure in one way or another. This because they disturb a lot while studying at home making him or her either forgo doing homework. Research shows that college students are faced with a lot of challenges throughout their academic transition. For those not in college may see going to college as fun and wish to be there. Little do they know what we college students go through and the stress we find ourselves in. Therefore, parents need to work together with the government to ensure these challenges are addressed for students to study peacefully. Also, instructors should be moderate while allocating assignments. They should at least ensure students’ have humble time by not overloading them with assignments instead spread the assignment well to reduce pressure on the students. The above information shows diversified opinions many people have regarding college students which is far from the truth.
