The Job Analysis Process
Landau and Rohmert (2017, pg. 10, para. 1-3) describe job analysis as the process through which the human resource body of an organization performs an in-depth investigation of a particular position so as to control output. It involves the investigation of responsibilities, duties, tasks, and activities involved in a particular job. The process of job analysis determines the functionality of departments in a given company thus making it one of the most significant roles of human resource management. The process is effective in finding out the needs of a particular department and the required output of various workers.
According to Landau and Rohmert (2017, pg. 5 para. 5, lines 5-6), one of the main important roles of a job analysis by the human resource department is to determine the description of different positions in the company. This enables the company to hire the right people to meet its needs. Job analysis is therefore important in the recruitment process and for a general follow up to ensure that workers perform tasks in a suitable way.
Job analysis also helps the human resource management decide on the compensation package, rewards, and incentives for a specific job position. The process offers a significant contribution to the assessment of training needs and performance of different employees (Landau and Rohmert, 2017, pg. 6, para. 1-2). Carrying out a job analysis enables the human resource management to develop a perfect fit between the employee and the job.
