Life on the plantation
American slavery was one of the darkest times in the modern history of the world. It involved the use of slaves as tools and machines that worked in the plantation owned by the white community in the United States of America. They were viewed as the property of their masters and therefore could be sold killed or disposed at any moment by the masters. Most of the slaves were the black bought from Africa, who later came and gave birth to more slaves on the American farms. Being a slave in American plantation came with dark experiences. This discussion will evaluate some of the lessons underwent by the slaves in the United States of America in the whites’ plantations.
Life in the plantation was that which was coated with hard labor, mainly working in the firms from morning to evening with no lunch break to most slaves. In fact, they were under brutal supervision by the master and that they were brutally handled in the plantation (Singleton, Theresa 110). In this case, they were whipped and forced, and in many incidences, they were brutally killed by the masters. Women and children went through a lifetime as some were sexually abused by the white masters. The experience as a slave could not be complete if before mentioning the poor living conditions in the white’s plantation. Most of them did not have decent rooms to sleep in and therefore, they were exposed to many diseases as well as deaths in such settlements. The rebellious slaves who attempted to escape were killed, and some were separated from their families and never to see them again in their lives.
