Question 1
Sammy quits his job after an incident with the manager of the store in which he works. After three girls come into the store with nothing but bathing suits, catching everyone’s attention, the manager comes in and berates them for being too inappropriately dressed to shop at the store. It is the realization of the fact that he did not belong to such a place that makes him quit. There is evidence from the story that John did not like his job. For instance, his married friend Stokesie wanted to become manager of the place in future, an idea he did not seem much interested in given his mention of it as an afterthought.

The way he describes the sounds made at the till does not suggest someone who particularly enjoys being there. When the girls are in a hurry to get out, he says “who would blame them?” this is an admission or testament to the working conditions in the store. He quits in a bid to wrestle back his freedom from his parents and manager’s control.
Question 2
Eveline realizes where she truly belonged, and that going home would not solve her problems. James Joyce uses flashback to take the reader on Eveline’s journey of Epiphany. It begins with Eveline remembering the fact that her father was not always as bad; that he cared despite his faults, remembering the time when they went camping and the instance where he took care of her when she was sick.

Wait! Literature paper is just an example!

She also remembers the promise she made to her mother to keep the household intact for as long as possible, to maintain the life that she slowly begins to think of as not too unbearable.
