Abstract
The ethical type used whenever there is a dilemma may determine the result of the decision made. For instance, when an individual utilizes the available resources and utilities to the maximum, they are likely to get a positive result at the end of the day however much challenging the dilemma may appear to them. There are also some of the instances when abiding by the rules and regulations offered by a group of people or group of companies may be catastrophic, and therefore one has to be cautious about the rules they are abiding by when making a decision where there are two extremely opposite factors to be considered. When using the utilitarianism, for example, there are some of the factors that are needed by the organization or an individual that one has to forgo to come to a better conclusion. Such factors include the rules or the laws governing the firm among others. The same factor applies to other theories used in the decision-making process.
One of the instances, when I was faced with an ethical dilemma, was when I got invited for two different job interviews. One of the jobs had better pay, but it had so many restrictions and requirements that should be met by the employee while the other job had a relatively lower pay but the employees had a very humble time and a relaxed atmosphere to conduct their duties. I decided to take the job with better pay and applied the utilitarianism theory (White, 2012). I used all the available resources in the workplace to please my master.

I had to conform to the issues that were required of the employees in the company. The use of the utilitarianism enabled me to conform and adapt to the available rules and regulation in the organization. The ethical type of maximizing the use of the available resources including time was helpful since the management viewed me as a hardworking employee and it enabled me to have limited difficulties in the workplace (White, 2012). In case I would have used conformism ethical type, I would have found it difficult to work in the firm since I would be like any other employee in the organization who believes that those restrictions cannot be overcome.
The company I worked for was faced with a dilemma concerning two suppliers that supply similar commodities. One of the suppliers supplied their products at a lower price while the quality of the products was relatively lower. The other supplier had the same product, but the price of the product was very high even though the products were of good quality. Our firm decided to utilize the cash that they had to purchase the high-quality products from the supplier despite the fact that the products were very costly (White, 2012). The theory that was used by the firm manager was the utilitarianism where the management had to utilize their funds to help them produce high-quality products. The utilization of the funds to the maximum level enabled the firm to maintain a good relationship with their customers as well as spending very little time to market the products (White, 2012). If the management had used the deontology theory where they abide by the rule of enhancing maximum savings in the firm, they would have gone for the minimum expenditure by buying the low-quality products that would be very difficult to sell to the customers. I would assess the situation by checking the responsiveness of the customers to buy the product.
In the international instance, the world market was faced with a dilemma on the discovery of the harmful effects of bhang. The world market, therefore, decided that the drug will not be traded and most of the countries that were selling the drug had to conform with the rule however much they were not comfortable about it because of the loses that they were to experience. The decision-making process didn’t utilize all the side effect that the banning of the bhang selling will do to some of the countries in the organization (Harris, 2007). The countries that were affected most were those that depended on the bhang selling as their main source of income. The decision-making process involved the meeting of the heads of the country, informing them of the side effect of the drug on people and later coming to a consensus to ban the selling of the drug (Harris, 2007).
