The level of bribery within the governmental organization and the oversight mechanism in place is amongst the most critical issues facing the reputation of Mexico in the world. It is one of the primary cause of the country’s high poverty levels and low economic performance. The cause of high corruption rates has been attributed to cases of injustice, insufficient civil participation, and lack of political transparency. In this case, to tackle corruption effectively, there is a need for collaboration of all the stakeholders which for years has been minimal due to increasing disunity in the country. In particular, there are two examples which are evident enough to show that when Mexico will perform poorly if evaluated on the level of corruption within the country.
One of the examples is an issue of the pyramidal structure adopted by Mexican police. This structure gives a clear picture of the position of every police and their roles from the top spot to the bottom line indicating how salary is distributed amongst people with those police at the bottom getting low wages (Haberfeld and Ibrahim 110). It is apparent that these police officers who get insufficient salary have responsibilities at home and whenever they are not in a position to meet their needs adequately, they get involved in corruption. Since in Mexico, the top officials in police departments do not bother other staffs at the bottom considering their low education level, taking bribes to tend to flow upwards hence killing the development in Mexico.

Another example is the legal system in Mexico. The main bodies which are entrusted by everybody in providing justice to the innocent citizens also involved in taking bribes. Handling backlog of cases dealing with corruption has taken a different shape because federal judges and lawyers collude by receiving bribes from clients who have committed a crime. According to the UN Human Rights Commission, 50% to 70% of federal judges and lawyers are believed to involved in corruption hence is killing the judicial system of Mexico (Haberfeld and Ibrahim 108). Consequently, a high rise in criminal cases which affects the economy of the nation as a whole due to a lack of public confidence.
