Nationalism and Imperialism
The concepts of nationalism and imperialism are related because one leads to the other. Nationalism occurs when citizens perceive their country as being better or greater than the others (In Breuilly 98). Conversely, imperialism happens when countries take an empire. Imperialism happens when countries want to prove that they are better than others. In essence, to prove their nationalism. Although nationalism often leads to imperialism, the process can also happen in reverse. At times, imperialism leads to nationalism. Countries establish empires which cause feelings of pride among citizens of a country, and they begin to view their country as being better than others (In Breuilly 103). Although nationalism and imperialism are closely related, their effects are different; nationalism has more positive results such as increased industrialization and political stability while imperialism often has negative effects such as war.
The outbreak of World War one can be attributed to nationalist pride and imperialist aspirations. Countries had become industrialized which resulted in nationalist pride. They, therefore, wanted to gain empires to prove themselves. The tussle for establishing empires led to the outbreak of world war one. People devoted themselves to participate in the war out of their sense for patriotic duty. Each country wanted to build a reputation for itself and to be recognized as powerful. The countries involved in World War one had aspirations of building empires.

Wait! no title paper is just an example!

However, no country was willing to be subdued by the other. The countries that were targeted as empires retaliated and world war one started. Although imperialism began with countries wanting to expand their trade and sources of raw materials, it evolved into countries wanting to exercise their power over each other leading to World war one.
