The justification for the teaching plan for diabetes was based on the need for educating and caring for patients and their families (Lee, McKay, & Ardern, 2015). In this regard, the plan included preparing the right nurse to provide effective diabetes care without limitations. It was notable that before implementing the program, it is significant to define and understand the characteristics of the clinical site, as well as patient population. As a result, the teaching plan would be able to be customized to the needed community (Clark, 2015). Another practice involved designing a pre-test and post-test program to provide the patients with reference during clinical attendance.
Diabetic patients require comprehensive learning needs. Therefore, the teaching plan focused on managing the unstable levels of blood glucose and prevention of disease complications (Lee, McKay, & Ardern, 2015). Since the learning needs to control blood sugars are involved, the teaching plan provided effective strategies for monitoring glucose levels and skin care (Clark, 2015). Furthermore, the plan targeted the management of co-existing syndrome processes, food planning, and knowledge of medications. More importantly, the main reason for addressing the needs mentioned earlier is to manage severe hypo- and hyperglycemic episodes.
Throughout the world, several patients are diagnosed with diabetes regularly.

As a result, the annual cases of diabetes requires careful lifestyle changes, particularly in nutrition and physical exercise. While adapting to these changes, patients face most significant challenges in the process of disease management (Zysberg, Bar & Goldman, 2017). In this case, the teaching plan aimed at providing patients with knowledge and self-directed behavioral changes to improve their health and manage diabetes. Furthermore, the diabetes teaching plan is supposed to assist patients to develop educated lifestyle choices and transformations that promote health and stable blood glucose. Ultimately, it should be understood that individual patients require comprehensive treatment approach to address diabetic complications.
