Admission Essay
Masters of Occupational Therapy Program
I am Brittany Nichole Ruble and a graduate from Texas Tech University with a major in Exercise Sports Science and minor in Psychology. I express my interest to undertake a Masters of Occupational Therapy (MOT) Program. I am optimistic and confident to attain success in the program. I expect to experience a diverse difference between the program and undergraduate. The program will be highly specialized in studies compared to undergraduate prams. That, therefore, demands serious concentration and dedication to studies compared to an undergraduate program. It will demand detailed learning and synthesis of ideas than it was during undergraduate. I expect to be in a much smaller class during the program compared to an undergraduate. Engagement with instructors and professors during the program will be highly individualized compared to that undertaken during undergraduate studies. The program will demand I work more closely with the professors during my project compared to that during undergraduate program. Often, it will require engaging the instructor on a one-on-one basis.

I think I would be an asset to the TTUHSC MOT program because this is something that I have always dreamed of doing. I was born and raised in Lubbock and making the decision to complete my undergrad at Texas Tech University was easy. I am a proud Red Raider and getting into the MOT program at Texas Tech would be the cherry on top. I truly believe this is what I was meant to do, I love working with the geriatric population, and I can honestly say I will do whatever it takes to make sure I excel in this program.

Wait! Occupational Therapy Program paper is just an example!

I have never been more passionate about anything in my life.

My experience will be imperative to promote learning during the program. I was an active member in Chi Omega. I was head of one of Chi Omegas major fundraising events, Swishes for Wishes. I was a Rho Gamma. I was a member of HOSA. I volunteered at Pediatric Therapy Inc., Crown Point Health Suites, Lubbock Heart Hospital, Bender Terrace, and Physical Therapy Today.
For graduate school, I expect a much more challenging environment. I expect the program to be highly research-oriented, far more than I engaged in research during undergraduate studies. A notable part of the program will involve research preparation and data collection through fieldwork or exploration of literature, besides classwork. Another great challenge I am likely to experience in the program, which was not challenging during undergraduate, is to defend my research. I am sure it will be focused learning of the course content, and I need to know to become a successful Occupational Therapist. Furthermore, I expect to undergo an intensive examination process during the program compared to the experience during undergraduate studies. In essence, I expect a high workload and comprehensive studies during the program than that experienced in undergraduate studies. Besides studies and examination, I expect to study alongside classmates who are of relatively advanced age in the program class compared to those I had in undergraduate programs. In graduate school, I expect to engage in insightful discussions with colleagues who are of advanced experiences in their field of study compared to undergraduate students. I expect to learn alongside graduate school students who have in-depth skills in research as well as applied knowledge. Furthermore, I expect them to have greater experiences that are fundamental to explore diverse research areas and discussion topics during the program.
The program will provide the opportunity to engage in a career path I am most passionate to undertake. The career is rewarding and inspiring because it involves assisting the underprivileged members of the society. Although challenging, the program is a fascinating course because it inculcates the knowledge of helping people to empower themselves and change their lives. As a professional, I am passionate to demonstrate openness and tolerance in handling other people s challenges. Undertaking the program at the graduate school would be a perfect avenue to develop diverse problem-solving skills. I expect to cooperate with other students in the program at the graduate through interactive learning.
There will be diverse challenges during graduate school. Adjusting to the busy schedule is the first challenge I am likely to have during the program. I expect to exercise perfect time management skills to overcome that. Writing my research paper during the program is another key challenge that may influence my success at graduate school. I must have a perfect mastery of the required course details and research writing skills demanded to overcome the challenge. Furthermore, I must have close and interactive sessions with colleagues and professors to complete the research by set dates. I expect this program to be more of a hands-on experience so that I can learn by watching and practicing on others. Balancing research, class work, and examinations demand perfect time management skills, as well. Having learned dedication and perseverance during my undergraduate studies, I am confident to success in the program. I expect these challenges to push and motivate me to excel in the program so that I can become the best occupational therapist possible.
