Kimberly-Clark Mobile Mill as a Good to Great Company
Kimberly-Clark Mobile Mill is among the top companies producing paper products such as toilet paper, diapers, cleaning wipes and other types of tissues. This section of Kimberly-Clark was founded in 1939 and has since then experienced a static growth. The mill deals exclusively with paper products and the management of the company have over the years focused on the personnel as the main aspect to improve its performance (Alonzo 2). However, this has not conceived significant results since the performance remained the same over the years. Even though the company’s returns were ‘good’ and therefore it enabled it to survive the prevailing market competition, it still could not manage to expand.
In 2012, the management of Kimberly-Clark decided to introduce a strategy to enable the section of the company increase its profitability and hence the market share (Alonzo 3). The company decided to start focusing on the equipment to increase the quality of the products. The management conducted a thorough analysis to identify the best equipment which could be used to reduce the cost and at the same time ensure the quality of the product improves profoundly. Several advanced machines were introduced in the company for this reason. Besides, Kimberly-Clark Mobile Mill employed professionals to operate the machines.
Reportedly, with these new changes, the company started to improve gradually.

The quality of the paper product was improved immensely. This included the texture as well as the packaging of the tissue papers and the diapers. Due to the decreased cost associated with the production process, the company decreased the price of the products to make it affordable (Alonzo 7). As such, many consumers were attracted to a factor that made Kimberly-Clark Mobile Mill increase its profitability and market share significantly. This made the company ‘great’ and outperform most of its major competitors like Georgia-Pacific, International Paper, Weyerhaeuser and others.
