I am interested in pursuing pediatric podiatry as I believe that I have the necessary skills, qualities and commitment to handle this demanding course. My motivation to take up this career line is driven by my willingness to provide optimal medical services to those who suffer from various diseases and to improve their quality of life. More so, I am highly concerned with the wellbeing of young children, and I often find myself spending most of the time with them. As a result, I would like to specialize in pediatrics to ensure that children obtain proper health services.
I am aware that as a podiatrist, I will be required to diagnose, and treat disorders of the lower extremity such as the foot and ankle. In this light, I have a passion for sciences, and I am currently pursuing biology and chemistry for my A levels. I believe that these subjects will lay a good foundation for my future career. One of the most interesting topics I have learned in biology is the relationship between podiatry and diabetes. In this section, I got to understand that podiatrists play a critical role in the management of foot-related complications that are associated with diabetes (Gibson et al. 642). In this case, podiatrists manage ulceration, wound dressing and debridement. Also, I discovered that if podiatrists provide adequate awareness regarding these complications, related amputations can be reduced significantly.
More so, I have engaged in volunteer work that has helped me build on my confidence and gain several skills that are important in my career journey.

Wait! Podiatry Revised paper is just an example!

For instance, in 2017 I volunteered in community service at the St Lawrence College, Ramsgate. Here, I was able to develop a sense of community and got an opportunity to learn various ways of identifying and solving community problems. In the same year, I helped kids in their P.E. lessons in the college. As such, I got an opportunity to interact with kids and nurse them when they got hurt when playing. Some of the minor cases that I addressed were sprains and bruises. In this respect, I have pursued an online course known as First Aid for Babies and children from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent society, which enabled me to take good care of children whenever they sustained minor injuries while playing. More so in 2018, I volunteered as a scout at the Badminton School, Bristol where I interacted with children aged five. Here, I was able to gain skills in decision making, teamwork, and ways to communicate with young children to get the best out of them. To add to my suitability to pursue this course, I have completed an online course known as the musculoskeletal system: The Science of staying active into old age. This course has helped me understand more about the musculoskeletal system which is an area of focus in podiatry.
I have also pursued an online course titled as Health in Humanitarian Crises in the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. This course has prepared me to handle health problems even in emergency situations. Additionally, I have continually emerged as an exceptional student whereby I have received several awards including, an academic achievement award which I got in 2010 after excelling academically, at the International Community school in Abuja. In the same year, I also received the ideal student award for becoming the ideal student for the school year 2009/2010. As a result, I believe that I will shine in this course as well. In extracurricular activities, I have been able to develop new skills and abilities to take up new challenges. This was mainly achieved when I worked in the Combined Cadet Force at the St. Lawrence College, Ramsgate. I also became a girl scout in 2012 at the international community school, Abuja whereby I had an opportunity to explore the outdoors and as well gained a strong sense of self. I have also gained relevant experience in handling patients while working at the cedar crest hospital.
Finally, I am organized, empathetic and a good team player. These skills will enable me to achieve the best in my future profession. For instance, as a team player, I will be able to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes. More so having excellent organizational skills will enable me to take up roles and effectively execute them. My hobbies include playing piano and drums which I took time to learn. As a result, I learned to be patient with outcomes. This will enable me to be tolerant with my patients by walking with them through the entire journey of recovery. Therefore, getting a chance to pursue a degree in podiatry will give me an opportunity to build on my dream career.
