Personal Ethics Statement
My enrollment into Drexel has been a breakthrough that has given me a sense of belonging and self-realization. Growing up in the town suburbs under the care of my parents who have been farmers throughout their life was never easy. I used to live as an introvert who believed that the world is always harsh and unfair to some people. Being the only child in a family of three, I had no elder siblings or family acquaintance whom I could share my problems with. I used to live a dependent life where I could barely consult anyone besides my instructor because I believed everyone is out there to mislead me. I was very judgmental because I thought the only means to survival is through elimination where one had to take advantage of others to succeed. All through, I thought someone’s level of success was based on the amount of wealth and other material possession that they had.
The first term in Drexel was a turning point in my life where I was forced to restructure my core values. Within the first week in school, I had already made a couple of friends whom I believed we shared the same life goals. It dawned on me that we meet people by purpose and each one of them will have an impact in my life (Banks 20). Over time, I learned to tolerate and coexist with different personalities by embracing the spirit of tolerance. I also learned that we all need each other to survive and succeed (Banks 21). Life is full opportunities, and all one has to do is believe in themselves and take the bull by its horns.

I happened to interact with a disabled classmate who later became my best friend. It is at this point that I realized that everyone has a chance and at times we are blinded by our past life experience to a point we cannot see the bright future that lies ahead. Drexel offered me a myriad of opportunities and all I had to do is showcase resilience and confidence in all that I do, and I will surely achieve my life goals.
I believe our past life experiences dictate our present, but this is bound to change over time. Before joining Drexel, I drew my ethical perspectives from my aunt who used to come over during summer. She was the only person whom I shared all my secrets with, and she was always there to offer solace and grief to me. She had made a vow never to share my secrets with anyone, and I trusted her. When we were only the two of us, she could also narrate some of her early childhood life experiences and how she managed to cope with some of the challenges that came her way. She was the only inspiration that I had at the moment. I owed her my ability to remain responsible and fixated on my life goals while at the same time believing that I will emerge a victor at the end.
In Drexel, I met individuals with diverse personalities, and they become my source of ethical inspiration. I learned something new from each I interacted with, and I could not tire of making new friends (Banks 30). Some of them taught me to remain resilience and have confidence in everything that I do. Others taught me how to stay humble and come even when things do not seem right. In a nutshell, enrolling into Drexel was a reckoning force whose significance in changing my ethical perspectives cannot be ignored. I believe I still have a long stretch to cover as far as realizing who I am and what life holds for me is concerned.
I never trusted working in groups until I was assigned one and the team members chose me to lead them. All this can get attributed to Business 101 and 102-course objectives which require scholars to work together and collaboratively on some of the class projects. I always believed in the power of individuality, but I can attest that this two-course changed my long-held perceptions about working in groups. I always felt that some people in the group would take advantage of others. In fact, I used to refer to them as moles, and they barely contributed anything in the team. All this changed when I realized that the group project could be subdivided into numerous portions where each of the group members was assigned a task (Dyer and Dyer 123). It was quite easy because all I had to do was do my part and later on we could meet to discuss the information we had all gathered.
Life is full of surprises, and my professional setting is not immune to potential ethical challenges. However, I believe I have already braced myself with the necessary arsenals to contain any problem that comes my way. In the workplace, there is a code of ethics which should always be consulted in the incidence that there is an ethical dilemma (Martin 7). Furthermore, it is easier to solve some ethical dilemmas with peers rather than alone. In a nutshell, I would not hesitate to seek assistance from my workmates and my superiors whenever faced with a moral dilemma. The field of business is very competitive and therefore requires an individual who is well versed with what to expect and has confidence that they will emerge triumphant in all that they do.
