The Idea of Personal Identity and Privacy on Social Media
The 21st century provides social platforms such as Facebook, and online chats that encourage teenagers to share personal information. Most teens appreciate the platforms and provide all information about their status and personal lives such as real names, birth dates, interests, relationship status, their videos, city, and the town of residence, school names, photos, cellphone numbers, and email addresses. The media sites assist them to share information. However, few teens with high knowledge on the use of technology restrict their profiles, trim messages that people view about them and manage their reputation on social media. The use of Twitter and Facebook among teens has increased because they wish to interact with new friends (Madden et al. 1). However, at least 0% teens using Facebook hide their details through managing the available settings. Other teenagers manage their networks and mask information they want to hide to shape their reputation. Other teenagers delete people from their friend’s list and networks.
